When my mother started working as a Temple Worker in the LDS Temple, she told me she needed to have a few temple dresses.  The idea of going to the temple isn’t to carry on a fashion show, but if you’re spending more than a few days a week there, you want to feel comfortable.  For my mom part of being comfortable was feeling like she was wearing something that was “her”.  She has never liked the button up taylored style, nor has she cared for anything very clingy.  So she took the time to look around and find a few styles that suited her.

One of her favorite dresses was the Laura Temple Dress.  She liked how it fit and felt pretty wearing it.  She didn’t care for the Karianne Temple Dress, but I liked it on her.  The Alexandria Top with an A-line skirt ended up being her very favorite choice.  Each of her two choices reflected part of her personality. 

Now when I go to the temple, sometimes I look around at the different women.  I know it isn’t a fashion parade, far from it.  It’s inspiring to see how each sister is an individual, but that we are also very much alike.  The clothes we wear are just a reflection of it.  Even when we’re in the temple.  The Lord would never have us give up our individuality, I believe that he rejoices in it.  I know I rejoice in the differences in the people I am privleged enough to intact with.  LDS Women should rejoice in their individuality and just like the dresses they wear in the temple, modestly be themselves.

In a world full of flash, my favorite piece of jewelry is my CTR Ring.  My CTR ring has been with me for a long time.  It was given to me on the Christmas before I met my husband by my parents.  It sort of served as an inspiration for me to choose the right “guy”.  My husband would take my CTR ring and point the shield to himself when we were dating.  He said it was a sign and that he was the one to choose. 

I would always wear it on my right hand and then my wedding rings on my left hand.  It isn’t flashy.  It’s just a simple gold CTR ring.  I’ve had a few people over the years ask what it meant and what it stood for.  I hope that those who knew what it stood for could attest that I stood for the same thing.
